Day 23 - Brewarrina

A long sleep last night and this morning did an Aboriginal cultural tour for an hour with Bradley…



It was interesting and gave a background to the 8 tribes that made up the original indigenous people. A lot of time was spent on the history of the aboriginal fish traps on the Barwon River. These are said to be very unique and very historic. They are listed on the Heritage registers and they are still used today. You can see an old photo of the fish traps above.

The tour included looking at the fish traps that remain (construction of the weir did ruin a lot) but due to the higher water level most of the rocks cannot be seen at present. There are 2 photos below as well as some nature photos from our camp site along the river….



Tonight we are the only van here. Were 3 first night and 4 last night but on our lonesome tonight.

Tomorrow we go to Bourke for 3 nights before heading home.
