The last 2 photos are of what used to be called Gin’s Leap but now is known as Cooloobindi which is the original indigenous name.
Apparently 2 young aboriginal lovers leapt off the rock to their death to escape tribesmen who were chasing them. It appears she had been promised to an older tribe person and she ran off with a young man from another tribe.
The area was also known as “The Rock” and there was an Inn there in the early days. The couple who ran the Inn died there and the vault in the photo is where they and members of their family are buried.
Morning tea was at Narrabri (Maccas coffee) and lunch at Moree.
It seems that most towns have murals. There were more in the main shopping area but nowhere to park with a van.
After just over 300kms we arrived in Queensland and we are staying 3 nights at the Goondiwindi Showground. It is very wet here and we rang caravan parks but were booked out. The caretaker found us a grass site which is not too wet where the door is. Caravans have been pouring in later this afternoon and heaps of vans are heading south. Only saw 1 today heading north. Why are they escaping Queensland??
We had Border passes but was not checked. They had signs up that Police are doing random checks with huge fines if you are not complying with Health orders.
