Day 47 - Toodyay

We did a loop drive today but first a visit to the bakery and then to Newcastle Park alongside the Avon River.
It was interesting to see far more people around the streets this morning. Obviously mostly visitors and a train comes from Perth each Saturday morning to bring people for the day. It reminds us a little of Morpeth.
Faye did have to visit a special gift shop "Toodyay unique" which sells local handicrafts/food/etc. She had seen a windmill made from copper in the van park and they gave her the business card of the maker so we emailed him to find out where we could buy. He replied so made the buy today - and also a copper tractor!
Then went to Goomalling and visited an historic house "Slater Homestead" which was built in the 1830's. We were going to eat there but couldn't as they were preparing for a heap of young people who were doing an Amazing Race. They had special challenges set up and also in town. So went into town and had lunch at the cafe and the food and drinks were first class.
Then went onto Northam. It is a big town and very beautiful on the Avon River.
The piano was near the old homestead and the suspension bridge in Northam is the longest one in Aussie.
Faye did find some birds to photograph...the white swan was at Northam. The emu here at the van park (it did get her finger!).

Of course flowers were on the agenda so here are some more Faye found...

A lot of photos today as we did see a lot of sculptures - here are some...

Sorry for so many photos - we do get the blog printed into a book. Still here at Toodyay tomorrow.
