An extremely windy night last night but it did settle down a little during the night. Was below 0 this morning but has been sunny all today. As we had checked out the museum yesterday this morning we went down to the deserted town.
The first photo is the State Hotel which was operated by the WA government until the town closed down in 1963. Some shops are still standing and many of the other builidings can be inspected including some of the old miners cottages.
Gwalia was a worthwhile visit and camp and the photo below is last nights sunset and our view of the mine from our van...
A brief stop over in Leonora to refuel and refill one of our LPG cylinders.
Not as many flowers today but we are surprised with how many mines there are as you travel this area.
Had lunch here at Leinster and then had a walk around. This is solely a mining town run by BHP.
We have booked in as a visitor to the BHP miners mess for dinner. $20 a head for an all you eat buffet.
Tomorrow we head west to Sandstone.
