Day 52 - Alice Springs

A slow start to the day - mainly domestic stuff & shopping etc now that we are in civilization. Had to buy a new water hose for the van - existing one suddenly made 4 leaks! Also some polish & all the rubber marks from the blowout came off the side of the van OK. Otherwise a couple of small dents & was able to reattach the plastic wheel flare. The camera story not so good - I was recommended to a guy at the local Camera House store - worked on cameras all his life - he checked it out & said the shutter mechanism was had it & Canon in Sydney was the only place to get it fixed. Said it would cost well over $300 to fix and frankly he recommended not to go that way in view of the price of a new model body. So - Faye made the decision to get a new camera body for just over $500. It is a much better model & also has HD video. Uses the same lenses that we already have. So these are the first photos from the new camera...

It is the John Flynn Memorial Church and the Todd Mall. Lunch at McDonalds & then food shopping to restock. Fly buys started a limited offer today so we got a 50c per litre petrol voucher - can us it for 150 litres so possibly can get a $75 discount. Fortunately Percy has a 180 litre tank. Then back to the van to clean up & fix things.

It is the weekend for the annual Henley-On-Todd regatta which is on tomorrow. This is where they have boat races in the dry river bed...a parade through town in the morning so should get some photos...

Faye got excited this morning when she saw these on the side of a road...
