Queensland Day 58 Birdsville

Well it was another hot one today. The top temp on Percy's gauge was 41o - parked briefly whilst stopped & went to 50o. But, we had a great day and loved the countryside.

Had a look around Beourie first....this mud brick house was built in the 1880's...

Lots of sand dunes - this was one of the 1st ones...

The road ran alongside Eyre Creek for sometime so we had an early morning tea....

These are 3 photos Faye took whilst we were there...

A musk duck..
Major Mitchell cockatoo
Pelican
At a crossing of Eyre Creek Faye found a new vehicle to try out..
The country changed..
Ken found a new house..

And a new toilet..

Missing a shoe? How about a shoe tree!

Arrived in Birdsville at 1.30 - first stop the Bakery - then to the caravan park.

We are now ready to go into the Simpson Desert tomorrow - going to Poepel Corner (where Qld/NT/ SA meet). Will camp in the desert for a night & back here on Saturday. So the blog will be a day late.

  1. Some of these photos are very familiar. Found quite a few shoe trees on our travels. Wish I had had a shoe to donate. The nearest we got to the Simpson was on top of Big Red. Safe travels to home. M
