Queensland Day 54 Normanton

A very warm night in Georgetown - only a sheet needed!

Along the way to Croydon came to this lagoon...heaps of birds & a jabiru.

alongside this chimney which is from an old gold mill used in the gold rush days..

Spent sometime in Croydon - Faye met this fellow outside the Tourist Centre which is new & very interesting...

Watched a video on Croydon history - hard to imagine a population over 20,000 - 36 hotels - and 19km long. Had to visit the longest operating store in Aussie....

Ice creams were on the agenda!! Had lunch at Croydon.
We were told that we would have to go through some fires (someone had lit heaps of fires along the road) - this was the closest - we were intrigued why the birds were circling through the smoke...
Arrived in Normanton around 3.30 - later we went for a walk up the main street & found this fellow...

To Cloncurry tomorrow.
