Day 17 - Wellington

Went by bus today into the City of Wellington. The service was first class - the drivers helpful - the bus stops have displays showing services due & when - interior of bus has display of address of next stop. NSW could learn a few lessons! Cost was $5.50 each way per person.

Was only a 10 minute walk from the camp park. Got out at the end of the city when parliament etc is. Then morning tea and then to the Cable Car which was extremely  busy - kids everywhere being school holidays. Whilst up there did a walk through the Botanical Gardens.

Shop looking was on the cards for Faye... walked along the waterfront to Te Papa museum. It was very interesting and especially the Gallipoli exhibition -

The figures were done by the Weta workshop - and the displays give all the service details of the people depicted. Weta do special effects for movies. It is a huge museum and today was packed - again kids everywhere.

Had lunch back in the city and followed by some more window shopping before coming back by bus.

Leaving here tomorrow and plans are for Whanganui.
