First photo was at our morning tea spot. Stopped at Otaki for fuel and the main street was filled with brand outlet shops....so had to walk the street! Faye did make 1 small purchase. Then bought fish and chips for lunch.
Arrived at Whanganui and first stop was a lookout to overlook the town and river. It is a very long river and goes up into National Parks and the mountains. And of course there was an ice cream vendor selling real fruit ones - so that was afternoon tea.
Faye did not want to go up or down those stairs but she did! It seems a very nice well kept city - around 50,000 population.
Could see snow covered mountains in the distance. There was a feature the other night on TV about ski fields. It was pointed out that the North Island has more ski fields than the South Island. They still have metres of snow and currently having a record season.
Tonight we are freedom camped next to Victoria Lake which is just so beautiful with the gardens around. We did a 30 minute walk around the lake which has so many birds, ducks and swans etc.
It has a fountain which operates at night with coloured lights and many other features lit so will have a look at that after dark.
Tomorrow going to New Plymouth.
