Day 24 - Aire River (Otway National Park)

Another lovely sunny day. Left Port Campbell around 10.30 with morning tea at Princetown on the Gellibrand River...

After that did a rainforest walk at Melba Gully. The last time we were here was 10 years ago with Jim & Dorothy Snushall and Kevin & Pat Milson. It was Ken’s 65th birthday - bought part of a cake at Lavers Hill cafe and did the honors at the table in photo 5 above. He thinks he is blowing out the candles again!

Then onto Lavers Hill where we had lunch in the cafe where we had bought the cake.

It was only a relatively short distance to our nights camp at Aire River which is in the Otway National Park.

We are the only ones here so should be a quiet night. The ranger came around just after we arrived. We couldn’t get on the site we had booked as he said the whole place was completely under water 2 weeks ago. The mouth of the river had been cut off with sand and they only opened it 2 weeks ago and some sites were still to wet to use.

Lots of birds here and also found a koala...

Tomorrow going further along the Great Ocean Road to most likely Kennet River.
