Day 11 - Tingha

A slow morning & then had a look at the local swimming pool which is behind the caravan park. Next stop was the Wing Hing Long Museum in Tingha which was a “general store”operated by a chinese family for over 80 years. It operated until 1998 & since has been a museum run by volunteers. The stock was just left as when it closed including unopened stock in the rear.

We started with a $5 devonshire tea…

The 1943 calendar was a good year - Ken was born.

A very interesting visit. The house behind was the sleeping quarters for the family & “indentured” Chinese workers.

Then a few km’s to the New England Woodturners & Sculptures. Rob has done all the work on the wood - he majors on doing wooden models and also making didgeridoos - he gave us a demonstration by playing several. The 2nd photo below is a “fun” one but it does work!

Then back to town - Ken tried a “back” road - just as well we had a 4WD as it was needed! Izzy enjoyed it.

Coffee back at the Cafe & then back to the van for a rest. It turned out that we have had TV whilst here.

Leaving here tomorrow - the plan was to Narrabri but the weather forecast is VERY hot. It is forecast all over but the more we go west the hotter it will be. We will go to Bingara & then decide whether to go west or south.
