Day 15 - Broken Hill

Last day at “The Hill” and we went to Silverton with morning tea at the bakery before going onto Umberumberka Reservoir Dam. The dam was completed in 1915 and supplied Broken Hill and Silverton with water for many years. Broken Hill now gets its water from the Murray River at Wentworth as a pipeline was built in recent years.

The Mundi Mundi Plains are nearby and has become well known for its annual music festival which started last year.

The first photo above is where the festival is held (was on last month) and many thousands attend with most camping on the site.

Then back to Silverton for a look around - a very unique place…

Had lunch again at the Bakery who had better options than the Silverton Hotel.

Ken’s first car was a VW Beetle and quite a few around town…

Then back to Broken Hill for some shopping and a drink for Izzy. Has been very hot again with strong winds.

Tomorrow off to White Cliffs for a couple of nights.
