Today was our first ever visit to Ipswich. Only about 19km and we went via the Motorway and came back via the Cobb & Co touring route following the original route of the coaches.
First stop was a shopping centre “Riverlink” which is on the edge of the CBD across the river. Took a while to find a outside parking spot (most are underground & our vehicle would’t fit as we have a wind deflector on the roof) but ended up with one close to where we needed to go. Morning tea at Coffee Club and Faye had a haircut. The shopping centre is huge - in 2 buildings - with a rail line in the middle and a walk bridge across the river to the CBD which was only 5 minute walk.
We walked around some of the main blocks & you can see in the photos it is a lovely clean City with a mixture of older buildings and modern ones.
Lots of Churches around….
The RAAF seem to be flying a lot today. The Amberley base is just on the edge of town.
A few murals around…
Then had a look at Queens Park but some parts were closed on Mondays…
Ipswich’s main tourist drive is one from Ipswich to Toowoomba following the original Cobb & Co coach routes.
Came back part of the drive & will pick up the rest on a drive tomorrow.
The above photos were taken at Rosewood which is near Marburg.
