The weather forecast for today was showers and for tomorrow rain. As we wanted to do a loop drive decided it had to be today. However, first stop had to be the Kenilworth Country bakery which is famous for it’s donuts….
The middle one is a 1kg donut (no - we didn’t buy it!) which they have a challenge to eat & your time goes on a plate on the wall. Cost $20…Lots of paintings around of famous people.
Even the small donuts are huge & with coffee that filled our bellies for the morning!
Some others photos…
Then went to Mapleton - a very scenic road but caravans are banned and even one section was one way over a mountain. The road east was sealed but coming west gravel.
As you can see we had rain from time to time and low cloud.
Mapleton Falls is in a N/P just out of town.
A nice lagoon right in town…
And a painted water tower nearby.
Then we went to Montville which is geared for tourists & even today on a Monday parking was at a premium.
Just nearby is Lake Baroon.
Then onto Maleny which we were disappointed with given it’s reputation. Montville was much better. Had lunch at a cafe in Maleny.
The first 3 photos were taken at a lookout over the Sunshine Coast on the way to Maleny.
By then the rain had come more and it rained most of the way back to Kenilworth & is still raining.
Tomorrow will be more a resting day as we don’t intend to do very much - especially if the forecast is correct.
