Day 6 - Hill End

A very cold night last night but nice and warm in the van. This morning was fine but overcast and the max temp was about 7 degrees.  A slow morning out of bed and then the first stop was at 24 Carrot Cafe for morning tea. Two lovely ladies run the shop which is the town General Store - great coffee and cake!

Then to the N/P Heritage Centre and and as rain was excepted so we had a quick look around part of the town…

Next stop was Kissing Point Lookout and Split Rock and a nearby mine site. Only tours at weekends so missed that one…

Then to another 2 lookouts…

Most of the above photos were taken at Bald Hill.

Back to Cafe 24 for lunch which was home made Beef and veggie soup  and Faye did buy a Hill End souvenir - a wool scarf with embedded Hill End leaves.

It had then started to rain so had a quick look the other direction from town…

The centre photos are of Valentines mine and the bottom 2 the Quartz Roasting pits. Just a little glance at mining history.

Back to the van around 2pm and then the rain really did come down!

Some of todays birds…
