Day 17 - St George

Left The Gums around 10am and went through to Meandarra for morning tea at the local cafe. Never heard of the town until today. Good coffee though….

There are still many roads closed. What we have now realised is that the heavy rain that was west of the range is now flowing west and more roads will close in the days ahead. Inland rivers are starting to break their banks and were told today that more roads will  close in the next few days. We rang Dirrabandi this morning and should be able to get to Lightning Ridge tomorrow but the road will close in the coming days as more water arrives from the east. All that water ends up in the Darling system.

From Meandarra went north west to Surat for lunch…

Then straight south to St George arriving here around 3pm and we are in a caravan park tonight.

Tomorrow we hope to get to Lightning Ridge…
