Day 65 - Cunnamulla

A very cold night last night - the coldest of this trip so far. However, it did warm up and sunny all day.

Went into town after breakfast. First stop the Cunnamulla Painted water tower…

Another town that use some children of the area.

Then to the bakery for morning tea followed by a walk. Here are some photos…

The statue of the Cunnamulla Fella is very well known. It was a song that Stan Coster wrote and was made famous by Slim Dusty.

Cunnamulla is a well presented town although there are a few empty shops.

Also a visit to the Info Centre so Faye could buy stuff including a small sculpture of the Cunnamulla Fella and a quick look at their museum.

Back to the van for lunch and then later on to a new 3D sound and light show at the old railway station. It has only been opened for about 5 weeks and involved the building of a theatre and refurbishment of the disused Railway Station. It uses a 15m screen. It was really good and told the history of Cunnamulla and as it related to the railway. Opened in 1898 and closed to freight trains in 2011.

Tomorrow the plan is to stay at Bollon…
