Day 47 - Cornish Creek - towards Aramac

A nice quiet night last night all alone in the bush. We were near the rail line and only one train through the night (according to Faye - Ken didn’t hear it!).

Left at 9 am…

Last nights sunset. The solar panels and wind turbines were just along the road. Don’t know how many panels but they would have covered many acres and 000’s of them. It is a massive solar farm. The last 3 photos were taken at Prairie.

We came across this young 18 year old driving a tractor around Australia to raise money for the Royal Flying Doctors and Dolly’s Dream which is an organisation to help stop school bullying. Dolly lived in Katherine in the NT and committed suicide at age 14 after being bullied at school. Dolly’s Dream was set up by her family to fight bullying. Sam was the young fellow and has been on the road for 4 months with another year to go. We had read about him and has been on TV. We had a lovely talk with him and whilst with him he took a phone call to go to the local school to talk to the kids. He drives the tractor at 40kms per hour…

Then onto Torrens Creek for morning tea and then lunch along the road to Aramac. It is a road with 270kms between towns. They are gradually sealing the road and only about 17km’s gravel left to do and they are working on that section.

Had enough driving so pulled up at Cornish Creek for the night. Thought we would be on our own again but have now been joined by another van with the couple from Taree and all their kids live in Newcastle.

Tomorrow to Aramac where we will spend at least 3 nights.
