Day 25 - Cooktown

First up today went to Church - more travellers than locals…the Pastor and his family were sick so the service was music/singing and a sharing time.

Then a shopping top up and lunch. This afternoon went to James Cook Museum…

The anchor and canon are the originals from Cook’s Endeavour ship. He had jettisoned them when Endeavour struck a reef in 1770.

After the museum went to Reconciliation Rocks where Cook and the local aborigines held a reconciliation ceremony in 1770. They erected a new sculpture last year to mark the event.

The last 2 photos are from the waterfront. The left one is an indigenous story line and the right to recognise the Chinese population in Cooktown’s early years. The others are Reconciliation Rocks and Baptist Church..

Tomorrow will be our last day in Cooktown…
