Day 32 - Pambula/Merimbula

A nice quiet night alongside the Snowy River following a red sunset. One thing we noticed that it was the first time we had camped near water/river and not seen any birds or ducks. However, this morning a water dragon came to visit! Perhaps a relative of the many we have at home...

Left around 10am and a short hop to Marlo where the Snowy runs into the ocean.

You can see from the last photo that at present the mouth is covered by a sand bank. However, it is normally open.
Perhaps it is governed by the amount of water coming off the Snowy Mountains.

Then along the coast to Cape Conran where we had morning tea.

,

Then across to Highway 1 again with lunch at the Cann River bakery...

After that it started to rain on and off. A quick stop at Eden but was raining.

Came through huge areas that were burnt last year and it is remarkable how the trees are reshooting.

Staying here for 2 nights to have a look around Merimbula tomorrow. It has been raining lightly now but didn’t get too wet setting up. Nothing like the rain further up NSW. If that weather system continues to come south we may have to rethink our route home. From Monday we are booked into a camp ground right on the coast - no power but that may be closed.  After that we were going to a National Park but that has been closed due to the predicted weather.
