Day 71 - Mt Remarkable National Park

Before we left Woomera this morning had a look at their rocket/plane park and also went to their Info Centre. We didn't know that Woomera is a RAAF base & is owned & run by the Defence Dept. In earlier years it was much bigger - the caravan park is on the site of the officers accommodation & mess. The facilities are very well maintained - a huge theatre - a 10 pin bowling alley etc. Since the early 80's it has been an open base so the public can visit - except for the facilities and runway etc outside of town.

Just outside of town we had a very long wait for a very long train.

On the way to Port Augusta came across a beautiful "pink" lake & the other photo is of the southern Flinders Ranges - everything is so green and the green goes to the top of the hills.

Ken has been a little unwell with a cold/flu & gets tired driving so got some medication at Port Augusta as well as fueled Percy.

Tonight we are at Mt Remarkable National Park at Mambray Creek. Even have hot showers. Arrived at lunch time so this afternoon went for a 3km walk along the creek. There are heaps of River Red Gums that have hollow trunks. Also plenty of animals around. Ken was feeling a little better so went for a 2.5 km walk up a hill to get views over the Gulf.

Tomorrow we will go to Clare.
