Day 66 - Arckaringa Station Homestead

First job this morning was to either, cook, eat or otherwise dispose of all our fruit & vegetables. We had forgotten about quarantine & there were signs everywhere about the penalties of taking any fruit or vegetables into South Australia. Had a very fruitful breakfast & Faye cooked up most of what we had.

As we entered SA we discussed if and when we would see a Sturt's Desert Pea. Faye was very pleased to get a photo right on the border and then a heap about 80km down the road - see below. The flowers along the road continued most of the day. Faye was still on the lookout for birds & got these eagles and finches having a drink.

For morning tea we pulled into a roadside rest area where Neil & Beryl Trotter were set up with their Christian Truck Ministries Highway Chapel. We spent nearly 2 hours with them and had a great time of fellowship. They knew a lot of people & the Pastor from the Baptist Church at Malanda as they spent sometime at Ravenshoe.

Had lunch at Marla & then turned off the highway at Cadney Park and came 82km to Arckaringa Station where we are spending 2 nights.

The photos below we're taken on the road in - a very unique landscape as we came through the Copper Hills & then into the Arckaringa Hills...

Tomorrow morning an early rise to do the 11km to the Painted Desert for sunrise at 6.45am.
