Day 43 - Mt Isa

Only about 120km today - a leisurely start - soon after came across 2 of these as we had to get right off the road...

It was a very scenic drive from Cloncurry to Mt Isa - the countryside certainly changed..

Faye as usual looking for something to photograph...

Had morning tea at Fountain Springs & then had a look a the old Mary Kathleen town site - was a uranium mine that closed down years ago - nothing left except sales streets and slabs. This was the roundabout in centre of town...

Arrived a Mt Isa at lunch time...

- now we are "real" Aussies. As all the parks are booked out as TV's rodeo week & the populaton had increased 50% - went to the Info Centre and we are camped at an overflow at the Golf Club. Happy to be here as showers & toilets and only about 10 vans here. $20 a night. Golf club staff really helpful. Camped just away from the 18th tee...

Staying here for 2 nights.
