Day 20 - Erica

An easier day today - still very hot and have spent most of the afternoon in the caravan air conditioning….

The caravan park emptied out this morning as it was the last day of the Victorian Labor Day long weekend and everyone headed home!

Our first stop was the local cafe for morning tea - then a visit to the General Store to buy something for lunch. Erica is a lovely little town and everyone very friendly.

As you look at the photos they should all say “Day 20” rather than 19!!

In the early days there was a rail line through here to Walhalla and there is a “rail trail” from here to Thomson where yesterdays train terminated. It is planned to upgrade the line to run the tourist train from Walhalla to Erica. 7.7 kms still to be done.

Then we drove about 25kms to Thomson Dam which is north of Erica and supplies water to Melbourne. It was in the Baw Baw National Park which hosts 2 ski villages.

Then back to the van to cool off for the rest of the afternoon.

Tomorrow to Port Welshpool so back near the coast…
