Bought noodles for tea after we got back to Yulara at an appropriate business “Ayers Wok”. Even bought some ice cream at IGA - a first for this holiday.
This morning the alarm went off at 5.30am for a trip to watch the sunrise over the rock. Unfortunately there was cloud cover in the east so never saw it shine on the rock but still a great sight - even with hordes of people (especially asians).
After that went straight to the base of Uluru to do the base walk. Faye was delighted that there was a mobile coffee truck so coffee was the order of the day!
The walk was 10.6km and it took us 3 1/2 hours. Even though we had done it years ago still was a great walk. Here are 3 sets of photos showing just a few aspects of the walk...
Unfortunately Faye did have a fall in the last km - just had taken a photo and tripped on some uneven ground. She fell completely face down in soft red sandy area and her face was just red. People helped and fortunately no substantial damage. A few grazes, especially on her face but she will be very sore later.
After we got back to the van she cleaned up and showered and washed all her “red” clothes. She will be OK. Tonight we are doing a 4 1/2 hour outing to see the Field of Light and having dinner in the bush “Sounds of Silence”. Our splurge for this holiday!
One last set of photos as been experimenting with taking panorama photos on the ipad....
You can work out the last one - it is only 1 photo.
