Then went out to Karangahake Gorge which was an a gold mine in the 1800's. It was a big mine and there was a town of 2000 people. Only relics around now but it is a very beautiful location. You can walk around the area and we went for a walk around part of the old mine. Closed down in 1933.
Then had lunch at the Talisman Cafe before coming onto Mount Maunganui for the night. The challenge was to climb the Mount which is an old volcano. It is right next door to the park - Faye had to be convinced to try it - but we suceeded.
The following photos cover some of today's trip.
The 1st photo is Mt Puka which we climbed yesterday and the last one todays climb. The waterfall is Owharoa Falls.
The last group of photos are some of Faye’s bird and animal friends...
Tomorrow to Rotorua.
