Day 10 : Rubicon State Forest

This is certainly a popular camping place - heaps in last night and tonight - guess the weekend helps and proximity to Melbourne (only 100km). But still a very quiet night and morning.

Today we went onto the forest roads which is an active forest with harvesting. Main timber is : Mountain Ash, Alpine Ash and Shining Gum. Also within the forest are 4 hydro-electric power stations which were completed in 1929 and are all still operating (now owned by AGL). You will notice in a photo below an aquaduct which there are a few running through the mountains to take the water between the stations.

Morning tea was along the road and photos below are some animals and flower along the way.

The dingo ran in front of us for a while before heading bush.

Had late lunch at Taggerty then back to camp. Tomorrow we head to Mansfield for 4 nights and to get into the High Country proper.
