A cold night last night and below zero this morning. A beautiful sunny day today as we moved into South Australia. The army was on the move today as we passed numerous vehicles and heaps of semis with tanks/carriers on board.
Also spent some time behind a wide load. Then after we arrived here at free camp outside Peterborough 2 other wide loads stopped here near us for the night. Two wide loads at 7.5m wide together with 4 pilots and 2 police vehicles. They were carrying 2 huge mine dump trucks from Mt Thorley near Newcastle and going to Newman in WA. Each weighed 170 tonnes and that was without the cab and wheels and the bucket. These are travelling separately. Ken spent quite some time talking to a couple of the pilots and the 2 drivers and heard some of their experiences on the road.
We are camped near the railway and 2 trains have gone through already but we were told only 1 during the night. Had lunch at Yunta.
Had to dispose of our fruit and vegies as we came into SA so will replenish at the shops in the morning.
Tomorrow we plan to go to Iron Knob.

My brother taught at Iron Knob for 12 months.
