Left Mapoon around 7.30 am - did a little shopping in Weipa so we could eat tonight - morning tea at the junction of Cape road - lunch alongside the river at Coen - afternoon ice cream at Musgrave - and arrived at Hann River Roadhouse around 4pm. Total distance about 530km. The road is in pretty good condition and we averaged nearly 80 kph.
There was heaps of traffic heading north to the tip now that the school holidays have started. So we had lots & lots of dust most of the way. Those who know Archer River roadhouse would know that there is heaps of parking room out the front - today you would have been hard pressed to find a spot to park - wall to wall 4wd's..
When we stopped for lunch at Coen a roadworker truck pulled in also for lunch and the driver asked where we were from and where had we been - said Mapoon and he asked did we know David & Alana Milson...small world....Brent used to be their neighbour several years ago at Deeral. So rang David so Brent could reconnect with them.
