Day 4 - Canberra

First up this morning was a quick look at the Farmers Market which was adjoining where we are camped. Then to the National Museum after “going around in circles” by our app!

Of course we had to start with morning tea…

They were running a special exhibition on the destruction of Pompeii by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79AD.

It was very interesting and included was an animated display of the eruption with sound effects.

Then went to the Royal Australian Mint for lunch in their cafe. Was an interesting visit except that the factory wasn’t working being the weekend.

Then back to the van for a rest - very hot today…

Tonight there is a huge fireworks display on Lake Burley Griffin preceded by a RAAF flypast. We were tempted to have a look but they were already closing roads and people were setting up around the lake by lunch time so - we decided to give it a miss.
