Left Tewantin around 9.30 and had morning tea at a Service Centre on the M1 motorway.
Arrived here at 12.15pm and our site is lovely - not hemmed in and with all facilities. This place Standown Park was first started as a War Veterans retreat but has now opened up to all travellers.
First up some photos of the journey…
Standown Park is located between Gympie & Tin Can Bay and is surrounded by State Forest on 2 sides. There is a lovely war memorial and dam which we are camped near. The camp kitchen features a lot of veteran material.
They have a happy hour around the campfire every afternoon and we went for a while this evening. It was obvious that many of the men were veterans of the Vietnam conflict.
We are staying here for 4 nights.
