First up had a look at one of their painted water towers. They used local children as models for these murals with water cascading from the tank…
Then headed out to Cania Gorge (about 25km) with the intention of doing one of the walks. When we got there it was raining but did clear up. Decided on which walk - classed as 3 - so we headed off. It did involve lots of ups and downs as it went around the base of the rock walls. We now have trekker poles which we really did need as we went up and down rocks. At the end we were both surprised that we made it OK without too much back pain!
Sorry just realised that we had doubled up on one photo…
After a late cuppa went on another 10km to Cania Lake for a look…
As headed back to Monto went past their 2nd painted water tank…
Then to the shops where we bought a very late lunch after doing some food shopping at the IGA.
And then rest time for what was left of the afternoon.
Tomorrow we will be at Biloela - booked to camp at the Heritage Centre. Less than 100km.
