First stop was at Black Mountain…
Then onto Lions Den Hotel and towards Bloomfield…
As we went along came across a big coffee sign so that became the stop for morning tea - at Black Cockatoo Gallery…
An interesting owner - spent his working life with the RAAF and left on medical grounds and bought 30 acres in 1999 & set up the gallery. He paints and also looks after vulnerable wildlife. Said his love is still aviation and has his own helicopter & helipad.
Next along was Weary Bay so Faye had to get weary and be photographed again on the same log as many years ago…
Then the road follows the Bloomfield River to the Bloomfield Falls (now known as Wujal Wujal)…
Visited the Wujal Wujal cultural centre and Faye bought a necklace and earrings. An interesting place and all items are made by local people mainly by collecting local seeds…
Crossed the river and did a few km’s of the Bloomfield Track - which was very rough. Lunch was alongside the Bloomfield River.
The afternoon was returning to Cooktown with a couple of side detours!
First up to Archer Point…
The bottom photo is of an old jetty.
Then had a look at Keatings Lagoon as we came close to Cooktown…
Lots of photos today - sorry about that! But we include many photos on the blog as once a year we get the blog printed into a book which becomes our travel diary and for our memories as we get old and have to stop travelling.
