Day 6 - Boondooma Homestead

Distance today was 230km. Nice slow morning and not as cold!

Last night had a look at the painted water tank which was floodlit…

"

Before we left Millmerran had a look at some other murals around town and then visited the bakery for morning tea. Faye said we had to spend some money in town as it was a free camp!

It was then 10.45am before we left town and came through to Boondooma Homestead in time for a late lunch.

Along the way was Cecil Plains and Jandowae…

The town has painted their power poles and here are just 3…

Boondooma was first settled in 1846 by Scottish settlers and they have a Scottish Festival each August. Last time precovid they had 800 vans on site. Tonight only 3 of us. The property was bought by the local Council in 1975 as a place of historical importance. One man, Buddy Thomson has been instrumental in the restoration under guidance of National Trust and still works here.

Faye is standing in front of the Stone Store which the National Trust believes to be the oldest metric building in Qld and possibly Australia. It was built by a German.

This has been an interesting visit and tomorrow we move to Monto. Fortunately we are outside of the Qld lockdown areas announced today.

The mobile reception is very low here so most likely will not be able to upload the blog and photos. For those who get the emails if you get it tonight it worked - but if not it will arrive on Wednesday evening.
