The crowd was fairly small and no cameras were to be used and because there weren’t too many people the rangers could see everyone. Many of the penguins came out of the water right in front of us and climbed the rocks right next to us. Not sure how many there were but the previous night was over 1,500. As we walked on the boardwalk near their burrows there were penguins all over the place. The chatter they make as they came up the beach was so loud and you could hear them in the water before they came into view. The infrastructure is very different from our last visit...
The last 2 photos are not ours - they make them available to download but it is exactly as they came up the beach.
Today we went to Cape Woolamai first up...
And to the nearby Chocolate Factory for morning tea.
Next stop was to Churchill Island where the National Parks have a heritage farm. The visitor centre was closed due to power failure so could visit the farm at no cost.
Back to the van for a quick lunch as we went on a cruise this afternoon to Seal Island in the Bass Strait.
They say 25,000 seals live there and the boat could get very close although the sea was a bit rough...
We leave here in the morning and the target home for tomorrow night is Port Albert.
