About 300 km's today - came south from Clare & then across to the Sturt Highway. Morning tea at Truro where we were joined by the Rebels motor cycle Club members. We had just gone to the toilet when about 10 or so police on bikes joined us...followed by hundred's of bikies into town. They were all around the van & Interestingly they left a clear passage in front of Percy in case we needed to leave. Spoke to a couple & they were very polite - they were from all around Australia and on the way to Perth for their annual meet up. Said they expect 3,000 going to Perth. A large police contingent was with them - about 10/12 on bikes, a couple of police cars & a police van. There was a bakery across the road so we were tempted....we did cross the road!
The first place to see the Murray River was at Blanchetown where lock No 1 is located - the pelicans were there in abundance awaiting a feed coming over the weir. Lunch was at Waikerie alongside the river. The photos below cover these last 2 places and the flowers were at Waikerie. The ground flowers were alongside the road almost everywhere once we came into the riverland region...
As we came to Barmera took a slight detour to the town of Loveday for some photos for our friend Graham Loveday & Graham Street. Those photos are on my Instagram feed.
Tonight we are at Renmark alongside the Murray River. The kangaroo was behind the van & the plover was walking around with 2 babies & when we came close she took them under her wing...
Not sure where tomorrow night but most likely around Balranald. At this stage it looks like we may be home on Wednesday next.
