Day 49 - Meekatharra

A day in downtown Meeka!!
First up did a 3 km walk around Meeka Creek covering a lot of the areas history..

Faye & Dorothy tried to do a mail run!!!!

Went to a lookout & spent sometime talking to one of the RFDS nurses. Then went to the Granites 5km's from town then went to the airport to the RFDS base. We were given a personal guided tour of the base, including talking to the nurse & pilot on duty. We were able to get into the plane for an inspection...

The airport runway was built in the 2nd world war & is huge - is used as a backup to Perth Airport in need. The RFDS base is VIP as Meeka is virtually the center of WA.

This mine is on the edge of town - closed a few years ago but is being looked at for reopening.

Off to Cue tomorrow.
