Day 6 - Echuca

A very hot last night but a cool change in the early hours found us pulling up the bedclothes! At least it was cooler driving today.

A very slow start as we didn’t leave Hay until 11am. First had to fill up with water, get gas cylinder filled, use the dump point and then Faye saw the Black Sheep Coffee shop - SO - had to have morning tea there! The lady grew up on a sheep property and she got the black sheep fleeces as a kid so when she opened the cafe a year ago it was the “Black Sheep Cafe”. Faye has a very similar story without the coffee shop! She opens at 4am for shearers to buy their breakfast..

The first photo is the historic Railway Station.

The road through this area is called “The Long Paddock” so here are some of the sculptures, as well as a special fence...

Arrived Deniliquin around lunch time so first stop was their painted water tower. It is painted right around the tank.

Also a couple of the utes around town. They have the Ute Muster every year.

A special lunch - at Maccas...then onto Echuca where we are staying for 2 nights. No checking of permits as we entered Victoria...

We are staying at Rotary Park for $10 donation a night.

Will look around some close towns for more painted solos/murals.

  1. You are certainly seeing some beautiful silos and tanks. Great photos.
we have done this area many times but before the art work. Hope we can get back there again some time. Enjoy Echuca, a favourite town of mine.
