First up had a look at a couple of murals for kids (swimming pool and school) then about 5 kms outside town is Escort Rock where the biggest gold robbery in Australia took place on 15th June 1862 when bushrangers help up a mail coach and 4 police. They were arrested on 27th July and the gold was recovered but the money was not.
The bottom left photo is a section of the old coach road where the granite is worn by coach wheels. Heaps of granite boulders around.
Then into Nangar National Park. Had a look at the original house on the property called ‘Dripping Rock’ then to the camping area for morning tea.
Next stop was Dripping Rock...
In the 2nd photo you can see the drip into the water if you look close. We had lunch there after going to the summit of Mount Nangar.
Then it was 4wd territory and Percy loved it...not too extreme though. Some views from the summit.
The 4th photo is Mount Canobolas at Orange.
On coming back to town Faye had to visit “Craft on the Creek” a volunteer run craft shop. Bought somethings including a home made cake for afternoon tea.
Tomorrow to Forbes.
