Day 13 - Condobolin

Well today has been interesting!

Lets take it in order. First stop was Utes in the paddock...

A fantastic feature for the town and all of them are Holden Utes. With Holden now to disappear it is felt this exhibition will be very symbolic.

Next stop was Condo Bakery for morning tea and coffee. Then a walk around and a visit to the local craft shop and did buy some very cheap books!

Then out to Mount Tilga which is said to be the centre of NSW. There are variations as to where is the actual centre is due to the odd  shape of this State. Depends where you measure it. Ken climbed the Mt to get photos from the summit. Faye didn’t go and stayed with the car. It was fairly easy climb except for last section which was steep and rocky. This is where it got interesting! Ken got to the summit and was almost down the steep section when he lost his balance and tried to run down the last bit but at the bottom did a face plant fall. Blood was everywhere. But fortunately didn’t break anything but lots of skin off - the worst was his left arm as well as left hand, right hand and left elbow as well as both legs.

So straight back to town and the hospital. A nurse saw us straight away - first put Ken in a shower to clean up and then spent a long time doing all the dressings. As from last Friday the hospital and the town does not have a Dr - not even any visiting one. The nurses are not happy as the nearest hospital is over 100km away. The nurse did ring a rural Dr network to get advice. Due to the risk of infection they want it to be dressed again tomorrow so will need to visit Parkes hospital when we get there tomorrow. The camera was around Ken’s neck and wouldn’t work for a while but it resurrected itself. His watch glass is cracked.

Then a quick look at the towns recreational lake - which is dry at present.

Back at the van Faye had some washing. Ken’s clothes had blood all over and Faye’s as well.

This is what Ken looks like now...at least it was all superficial. So much for “old” skin and blood thinners...

To Parkes tomorrow.
