Day 11 - Ohope Beach

On the road again after a stop at Countdown to replenish the food supply.

Morning tea was at Lake Rotoiti amd then onto Awakeri for a quick lunch before becoming a train for next 3 hours...

It was a very interesting experience and it included some stops, (a) feed chooks, (b) tea/coffee and (c) bush walk.

Faye was the first to go to the ladies toilet at the tea stop and found the gentleman above!

Paul set this rail adventure up 2 years ago after being a NZ train driver. He is very heavily involved in conservation work at the bush walk and he is a practical joker...

The tree above is a Kahikatea and is 55 metres tall. They grow much taller and is the tallest of the trees in NZ.

After being  a train we came through to Ohope Beach and are in a freedom camp. Some photos of today....

The photo above is Ohope Beach and we went for a walk after arriving.

Tomorrow we start our journey around East Cape which is said to be the remotest part of NZ. We understand that mobile reception will be a non event so don’t worry if the blog is late for a couple of days. May not go tonight but you will catch up.
